Entrepreneur | Senior Advisor Driving Energy Transition | Expert in Transport Energy, Biofuels & Fuel Retail | Advocate for Integrating Business Development with Regulation
LinkedInTogether with two former St1 colleagues we set up a boutique consultancy TEG. For recurring and once-off customers we have carried out a wide range of energy transition assignments extending over the entire value chain, e.g. profitability of hydrogen production, road map for EV charging, decarbonising alternatives for process industry etc.
The ultimate objective was to make St1 Biofuels' waste to ethanol business profitable. Together with the management team we were successful in building a highly professional R&D, Engineering and Production company. Although, the ultimate goal was never achieved, the 8 years at St1 Biofuels gave an extensive and deep understanding on the profitability drivers of a business driven by regulation.
Regulation and public affairs are fundamental elements of business in energy transition. I am intrigued by questions like "Can this be profitable?", "When could/should I invest?", "What are the risks associated?", and "What if the regulation changes?"
Multiple roles in ExxonMobil
Through my 13 years at ExxonMobil I was given the opportunity to experience every aspect of the fuel retail business. My early career years as a district manager I learned all the basics of fuel retail such as safety, locations, sales, costs, profitability, franchising, contract management etc.
Progressing through a number of domestic and international expert and leadership positions, the knowledge was enriched with the understanding of strategic drivers and nuances of the energy business. Those experiences were pivotal in my later career.
